On reading the Sonic Maximizer docs, it seems like this is mostly
suggested for live sound reinforcement. When using it for
mastering a record, i suppose the engineer is operating under the
assumption that the final playback equipment has the same phase
dificiencies as the P.A. loudspeakers the docs mention? Doesn't
this do a disservice to listeners that have good equipment?
If you poll the public you'll find that 99.9% don't have good
equipment. I tend to master for those with boom boxes, ipods, crappy
car stereos, WalMart stereos, etc. I'm not in the audiophile market.
