timidity doesn't sound.
Many soundcards allow only one application at a time to access the PCM
device. In your case, jack opens alsa pcm playback and therefore timidity
fails to open alsa (it blocks until the pcm device is available again).
The best solution would be to make timidity a jack client, but this is a
very difficult task.
