sites like this are NOT the solution in my opinion. we do not need more middle men involved in the process of moving whatever revenue might potentially flow between users and developers. what we do need is a better banking system that makes person-to-person transfers easy, cheap (preferably zero cost) and fast. this will not come from the world of geeks, nerds and open source enthusiasts - the banking sector is controlled by a different set of people with a different set of interests. clearly, in europe are already significantly better in many respects that relate to this. but in the US such transfers are absurdly hard. and crossing borders between currencies is still subject to absurd conversion fees (which do have a little justification because of the fluctuation risk posed to whoever participates).
