You still got differences in package formats and system layouts. I think it
might be best to make the changes in whatever package manager...
{Apt is holy... mucking about with apt probably violates several internet
commandments.}
I suppose you could just get all your rpms or debs together in one spot and
type "alien -d or -r or whatever" and magically transform them all at once...
It's just not the same as watching apt-get do it's little dance on the command
line or having the whole thing taken care of for you in synaptic...
