visualizer. I really like to use it with Jack to playback all kinds of files,
and it will give you individual channel outs for each channel in a single
audio file. It's interface is dead simple.
As suggested some years ago on debian.user mailing list, it seems that
"ecasound" can do what I want:
$ ecasound -i:3ch.wav -f:16,3,44100 -o:alsa,default
