I don't have any issues with RecordMyDesktop on fedora 20. It's actually
a pretty slick tool.

I filed that bug almost 4 years ago. At that time RecordMyDesktop was
already suffering from severe bitrot. regarding SSR, there are also packages here:

I already looked this up. The problem is that all the debs seem to be
specifically ubuntu, and in the past I've screwed apt trying to install a
ubuntu package :(
