I've always heard of the mallet solution, but I chickened out whenever i
had to do it. A safer way I read about - hold the drive so that the
spindle is parallel to your arm. Wit a few sharp twists of your wrist,
sprin the drive back and forth around the spindle. The back and forth
motion would decongeal the grease and things could power on normally
again.
The mallet is 10,000 times cooler though ::-)
