For my basic audio mixing needs, Audacity works
fine and (for me, at
least) is much easier to use. I probably use it at most as much as
the OP over the course of a year.
Then you do not need a DAW like Ardour so there's no use in wishing it
to be more simple. The contrary is also true. I cannot imagine
mixing
in Audacity so I do not wish it to be more complex.
