Actually
IMHO it's not the worst thing to happen for the freeware
community, I sort of frown upon the practice of 'cloning' and enjoy
genuinely new free apps a lot more... ZynAddSubFX comes to mind.
But if you want to play, say, Black Metal you can't use ZynAddSubFX,
according to the authors whish. :(
