Thanks
for the tip, but it appears to make no difference. The control
is still called "Synth" on this card, it's relatively old (not exactly
sure how much). I must say the alsamixer is acting strangely with
this card - some controls can't be changed, some (including synth)
won't be muted. The synth does let itself be adjusted. The total volume
doesn't respond to "pcm" or "main", I need to use "Wave
Surround" instead.
I think you have the speakers plugged into the rear output. The
synth only plays out of the front output, and the rear output is
adjusted using wave surround (I have my headphones plugged into
that one on my computer).
Ouch! Where can I buy you a drink, James? You solved it :-)
I can't believe I fell for that, I thought black was the logical
"primary" audio output. I'm only using regular 2-channel audio
through a mixer and stereo system.
Banging my head the wall won't make things better, but I sure feel
like it.
Many thanks!
No problem. Glad it helped! It's a fiddly card, but very good for
the price!
If you are ever dropping by in London, I wouldn't say no to a
beer!!
Best wishes,
James
