Seconded -- he's very impressive. One of my major influences as a
bassist was Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen's work, particularly when
he's accompanying a vocalist; "Those Who Were" is great. There are
some fun double-bass parts on some of Roni Size's albums too.
For the philosophy of playing the instrument, I would recommend
reading Patrick Süsskind's "The Double Bass"... ;)
