having used echo cards for the past half decade, ive seen this error
a number of times . on about 30% of fresh installs espescially when
going minimalist/DIY ie LFS
but not in the last year or so. try symlinking /lib/firmware
to /usr/lib/firmware and make sure the file is there, the error is a
bit obtuse
Thanks, but my firmware was already in /lib/firmware, as installed by
the Gentoo alsa-firmware-1.0.17 ebuild.
I symlinked the other way around, but that didn't make any difference.
Still getting the same error as above, except for different .fw
files, obviously. (I have an old 20 bit Event/Echo Layla.)
