So far the DVD is reliable. But, as a friend of mine used to say, "if
it's not on tape, it's not" ;-)

Ooh, but I've read that DVD is not really reliable, or at least not
proven to be reliable for archiving.
For large data amounts, probably good old tape is still the best.
But backups are for wimps. (Linus T.)
