And then when I saw on some site a blogger write that "Linux

Whenever I've seen this claim made with any credibility, it refers to
in-house custom editing tools [snip] I've never seen it credibly made
about the sort of Linux video tools that you or I could get out hands
on.
Or people confused NLVE with other video apps. Or they confuse
standalone gear, were perhaps just the display is handled by Linux, with
"Linux is used for professional video editing".
Even if there would be stable software, that provides everything that's
needed, available by the repos of Linux distros, most of us unlikely
have got the needed hardware, such as several monitors and crossfade
hand gear.
Software already was used with analog audio and video gear in the 80s.
When not using analog gear anymore, it doesn't mean that software can do
everything, it does mean that software can be used with digital gear
instead of analog gear. I wonder when and why it became a fashion to
believe that everything can be done by using software and a PC without
any additional gear.
Sure, for some needs it would be nice to have some free video apps
without the need to own special gear, that could compare to proprietary
solutions made for this purpose.
