I suppose I could read the MIDI spec, and hack something up pretty quickly
in Python/Perl/PD/C/etc to extract that data, but why reinvent the wheel
if there's already a tool that'll do that?
If you're going to write something in perl, have a look at MIDI-Perl:
http://search.cpan.org/~sburke/MIDI-Perl-0.81/
shouldn't be too hard to cobble up what you need with that.
