Our DVD drive (Plextor 708A) can read and mount CDroms
and
it can play CD-Audio, but it can't read or write DVDs
(anything that tries to use it gives a "no medium found"
error).
$ mount /dev/cdrom
mount: No medium found
* What does the corresponding line in your fstab look like?
* AFAIK, video DVDs cannot be mounted, only data DVD
