Everything works fine. I made a bad mistake. I used a quatro
pcm-wav-file with two quiet channels. Sorry! (I'm so stupid ! :-))
ALSA seems to be a useful API. I had to develop a lot of audio
apllications on windows with directX and mme the last years. I don't
like that stuff any more.
I will start to use Linux Alsa now and read the developer API!
I hope I can use Linux in projects in the future.

I have got one question.
I'm using ALSA + digi96/8 PAD with an external ADAT (Korg 880D/A)
I can play sounds on the device hw:0 (analog).
I can also play sounds with the device hw:0,1 (ADAT) with ecasound and
aplay and other software.But in the momment all the sounds are send to
the first two ADAT-channels
Is it possible to use all 8 channels with ecasound or jack ?
Have I to send an 8 channel interleaved file or sterro files how?
How does it work.
Or have I to set up a special multichannel configuration in the
.asoundrc file.
Have you looked at the explantion of how to set up an .asoundrc in the
alsa-docs?

asoundrc. There is a link there for more info about asoundrc files. A
couple of the examples are specific to RME cards.
