Maybe.
I just wish lame had an option to just read the whole
clip and noodle
around until it gets to a level it's happy with.
You could probably avoid all these issues by not trying to get
the maximum level in the first place. If you record/master at
normal levels lame won't have any problems with your signals at
all.
