Ubuntu 10.10 but I'll upgrade to 64bit 12.04 LTS when new machine comes.
Debian is deprecating ffmpeg in favour of libav-tools, and since Ubuntu
is based on Debian, I presume you will face this issue at some stage.
I'm now using avconv without any issues.
