That's what I'm talking about. In the background of a simple, but nice
pop song there might be some sequence including a special kind of "room
reverb". An audio engineer isn't always a savant and able to count how
many early reflections were played, but an engineer does know that a
reverb does provide options such as setting values for the early
reflection or simply how much delay there should be before the reverb
starts playing.
A musician even might be confused, if the delay of a reverb is to
asynchronous, while a non-musician wouldn't notice it.
The difference between a good professional recording and a less good
home recording often isn't the less good audio quality, but the drum
machine that isn't optimal tuned and something similar. Experienced
people notice such an issue, inexperienced people might notice a
difference, but are unable to explain what is different.
