[LAU] Can't capture sound.

Hi, I'm writing on the off-chance that someone else has encountered this problem or has an inkling of how it could be solved. I have a Mac Mini and would like to use the line-in jack to perform some very simple voice recording. When enabling Line monitoring in alsamixer, I can hear the input fine, but no amount of fiddling with arecord has yet enabled me to capture any audio. There are three subdevices, and I have all set them to line input with capture switch to true. Then, I've done $ arecord -D hw:0,[0-2] -f cd test[0-2].wav ...but to no avail. It's not of deadly importance, but it does drive me crazy that I can monitor the input and yet not capture it. Any ideas? Cheers, S.M.
