This is a common problem. Midi exported from a
program either lacks and
"program" (patches) commands or the importing program ignores them. In
Rosegarten, go to each track and reselect the instrument, bank, etc. Then it
should play.
No, it has correct patch/instrument assignments. The instruments
literally sound out of tune in some places. In other places there are
extra notes that mostly sound like random junk.
I originally thought it was data corruption, but as I went through my
various files, it's very unlikely that so many have the same kinds
of errors.
Moreover, it seems to particularly affect some horns - trombone is
awfully wrong! I thought it might have to do with transposition - but
I usually wrote in concert pitch and would change it just to print a
part.
