Then it's probably not a hardware problem.
Does the "rtc" interrupt count increase when you play in Muse/
Rosegarden? If yes, try adding the line
alias snd-timer-1 off
to your /etc/modprobe.conf, and reboot. (This should disable the RTC
interrupt).
