Can you suggest any console based distro optimized just for listening

May be just real-time support kernel, optimizer kernel IRQ and of
course with JACK.
Just do a minimal install of Arch Linux. Be default there is
not even
an X server installed, so as long as you don't install it yourself you
will have a nice console-based OS. GeeXboX features a few network services that allow you
to either
connect to or be connected to different facilities.
Among them, one may find:
* a Telnet server (default is enabled).
* a FTP server (default is enabled).
* a HTTP server (default is disabled).
* a Samba server (default is disabled).
* a ZeroConf service discovery agent (default is enabled).
