There should be libs out there that already give you access to the digital
data on the cd. I know you hesitate but if your player really fulfills

given tasks, would you mind releasing it?
Maybe. It's not meant as an 'entertainment' player - no playlists
etc. - more as a sound engineer's tool. Target audience near to
the empty set.
