If you are 100% certain that it is a hardware problem then you are
discounting a plethora of variables that might be affecting the situation.
I am not certain it is a hardware problem. But vague advice like "check
your kernel config" does more harm than good.
Well you know I don't suggest that to everyone on this forum. In this
case though I had a very similar problem that was fixed by delving into
the kernel config.
