Did you see no LS at all:
ps -ax | grep linuxsampler
If not, perhaps the plugin just didn't start LS itself. Sorry,

Thanks for the tips, but I'm no further. The ps report did not include
linuxsampler. :(
It's strange. I can see the voice allocation working along with the
keyboard display. But no sound.
I'll keep working at it.
