The newer M-Audio devices are compatible to the USB
Audio
specification after the driver has loaded a device-specific
firmware into them. Such a loader doesn't yet exist for Linux.
Would it be worth an ALSA or USB developer approaching M Audio
offering to write such a firmware loader in return for sponsorship,
or as a contracting job? It's got to be worth it from their point of
view.
