Also there is Timemachine, wich is, I think, the simpliest recorder up to 8
channels in one. But you will need Jack Too.
Then you can import your recorded file in audacity.

...and on that page a number of reasons are listed.
I see. Basically, Ardour is too cutting edge in its required libraries.
I wondered why ardour-gtk-i686 was removed from my system during a
system update awhile ago ...
So when might the new Ardour arrive in Testing? It looks like a long
while?
No idea, I don't know any more than what's listed on that page.
