SR of 44.100 records frequencys until 22.050Hz. You don't need more than that. you get
aliasing if you have a signal over 22.050 but a good card will work with oversampling and
filters to avoid that.

This is,
with all due respect, bullshit. On the technical side, there is
no difference, just a waste of bandwidth.
Of course a higher SR gives better
sound.
