I was contemplating the Edirol UA-25 or UI-101
(the former works, the latter does not appear well supported yet).
I'm still working on lowering the latency of my UA25 with JACK, but I
have to say that I like its audio output. Like the OP my notebook has an
Intel HDA soundchip, it's all right for CD/DVD playback, but the UA25
has much better audio output quality.
