great! so far there are at least three mirrors then, as far as i know...
peter clay and i believe julian midgely are the others...
we've successfully established through debate on the campaign for
digital rights mailing list that vsound is *not* a circumvention device
under s296 of the UK copyright act... because it cannot be established
that Real Audio streams are a form of 'copyright protection' - imho its
a convenience measure for saving bandwidth... but ianal and ymmv (to
cram as many acronyms into one sentence)....
i hope this might bring some more hope for vsound development... but int
the meantime we'll continue our mirrors....
Joern - what is the current legal situation in Germany at the moment
with regard to circumvention devices / copyright law?... i gather the
German EUCD will be a lot more lenient than the UK version...
feel free to take this off-list if its a wee bit OT....
best

i'd like to mirror it.
all i have is a very-low-bandwidth site at
spunk.dnsalias.org (only
128kb/s upstream), but at least it's there.
erik, as the author, which place would you recommend for maximum
download enjoyment and quality of bits ? :)

Hi all,
It is with regret that I have to inform you that I will not longer be
maintaining Vsound.

Although I have maintained vsound for nearly three years, I can no
longer do so, nor can I continue to make it available from this web
site.
I live in Australia which has a law (Digital Agenda Bill 2000) which
is similar to the DCMA in the US in that it makes the distribution
of a devices for circumventing copyright protection illegal. I have
neither the time, money or inclination to make myself a possible
target for such legal action by companies with endless legal and
financial resources.
However, vsound is probaly available from other web sites. If you
want a copy, you should search the web. Do not email me as I cannot
and will not provide you with a copy.
I will however continue working on other Linux audio software such as
libsndfile and Secret Rabbit Code.
