I'm using hydrogen and creox as inputs to ardour

output levels but maintain a high volume for jamming to??
If both ardour and hydrogen/creox are running on the same computer and the
connection is only through jack you shouldn't worry. Inside the computer the
audiosignal is not fixed to [-1:1] and can go beyond this levels. Only the
conversion to analog is then clipping at these levels.
So as long as the faders in ardour are pulled down so the master doesn't clip,
all should be well.
Additionally hydrogen has a mixer-window where you can set the volume of each
individual instrument and the mains level...
