Both points are valuable : we (LAU) need electronic means of recording
and mixing sounds, and ardour undoubtedly is The Thing is this area.
And, this is an "and", we also could use new tools to give birth to new
soundscapes for us to improvise/think/let go/play/invent/compose/puke
so that we (LAU) can achieve what is on our minds (and what isn't
beforehand) to make that kind of spicy noise we're proud calling
"music".
Ardour is the central tool i'd use for this. I can't use a tracker but
this is just me. I testify that others can. My own pleasure would be
to get the most out of a guitar take with ardour but I can imagine
(Squarepusher anyone ?) other means of spitting out great ear pleasing
noise with very different tools.
Flames are needed sometimes, keep them coming if you feel like it. As a
LAU, I'd like to thank you all. Keep on coding, you're the best, all of
you ! Paul is getting my special chocolate medal but still ... :)
Sorry for the "everyone-likes-everyone" opinion but it's meant
to be sincere ;)
