Hello Linux Audio Community!
This is the announcement you have been waiting for.
We've come to the conclusion that doing a full LAC at the announced date is
impossible, as our sponsoring setup didn't work out, therefore we have decided
to go ahead with a miniLAC instead.
Since we have already planned a lot of stuff, we thought it would be a shame to
let all the work go to waste, so we asked a few people whether they'd be
interested in a more compact and reduced conference program.
What we can currently offer with the resources available are:
* a lecture track
* workshop tracks (one of which will use the c-base soundlab)
* live audio sessions
* hacking sessions
* tours around interesting berlin places
* linux audio nights
This miniature version of a Linux Audio Conference is still planned to take
place during the (kind of) announced date: 8.-10. April 2016. The location is
now set:
c-base, the spacestation below Berlin Mitte (http://c-base.org)
Our plan is to start off on Friday with a meet-and-greet evening at c-base,
where we will have an open stage for anyone who wants to connect their devices.
Since we don't have the originally intended resources, we will have to limit
attendance to around 150 participants.
Additionally, if there is interest for this (especially for people arriving
earlier), we'll try to organize optional visits to other Berlin locations on
Friday 8. April.

I think this looks like a nice recovery from an impossibly tough
situation with funding. You're not the only hosting organisation to have

I was never going able to make these particular dates (so hey, I can
help keep your numbers down!) -- but I wish I could be there, because I
think a less formal mini-conference in and around town in Berlin sounds
like a great deal of fun. All the best with it!

say how certain these plans are? For instance, I see no announcement on
c-base website anywhere about this.
I know organizing is a super tough thing, just want to make sure there is

Would it be possible to present a body-motion-interactive audio-video
installation? Size is about 3x3x2.5 m^3, 8channel cube setup, could be
transformed into an 8channel ring setup for other installations/demos.
Combined with a talk/workshop (would be completely unrelated to the one

I could a do workshop on musik mixing and mastering with ardour.
Since I am not a professional, I would offer to bring some gear,
and invite people to come with their unfinished/finished projects.
The Idea is to gather people who have more knowledge/experience in
mixing then me, to help
others (that counts me :) ) on their current projects.
I can bring two sound cards (one usb, one firewire), Studio monitors,
two pairs of headphones.
What do you think?

Ok so I suggest only to bring Loudspeaker Monitors and Headphones, and
at most class compliant usb audio adapters (no firewire). Actually
builtin soundcards should suffice for demonstration purpose.
I have some thoughts on how to conduct the workshop:
-The workshop should take at maximum 1h 30mins.
-To kick off the workshop I will give a 15-20 min talk on my experiences
to get impressions from the professionals among you (I consider myself
an intermediate noob).
-The direction I want to go is aimed at the early stages in the mixing
process: gating tracks and removing frequencies (initial EQing) to first
clean the mix.
These are indispensable steps for any genre of music. Compressing should
also be adressed
-Later steps of mixing such as accentuating instruments/voices by EQing,
panning the stereo, adding reverb/other fx
should be left out/put at the end of the workshop as they are mostly
subjective and music/genre dependent
-Then those who wish to get tips on their mixes shall get time slots of
10mins on the speakers. This way 6-7 people can get tips on their mixes
(only initial mix), and show their stuff.
-At the same time others can use headphones to directly apply the tips
of the pro engineers
Discussions about recording and mastering should also be put at the end

Have seen all the Luppp videos on youtube, but can't achieve the "pedal
start record" feature, maybe the right hardware is missing here?
Check out the "special" feature, and then bind your footpedal using the
special binding, and it should start recording with the pedal as you want
it to:

I'm still trying to work out *exactly* where this is :(
My knowledge of spoken German is poor, and written - pathetic! This makes the
c-base website extremely difficult to navigate.
I've been browsing round the Berlin city map on Openstreetmap but with no real
idea of what I'm looking for it's a pretty fruitless exercise!
