It might be nice if this sort of functionality melded
into ssm, where
you could see the loop displayed around the circle... There would be a
visual cue then for when the loop was about to repeat, which can be hard
to find when the loop is > 10s long...
Yes, this is like dream land. I've been thinking of a way of squeezing
enough spiral loops type displays onto a screen so that I can watch 4+
loops at once.
You either make them side by side, and they all have to be small or make
them coaxial, but then one is small and one is huge.
Spiral Loops is just the most natural way to work with synced loops.

Actually if theres a piece of JACK software than can just do dumb loop
playing and crossfading and can send MIDI Clock at every loop sync point
that will save me a couple of hours of hacking.

granulation would have to be my number one request - yes please! :)
its one of the few ways i can get sounds to happen thesedays that dont
sound like they've been put through x y and z plugin....

that would be great! - i'm thinking of using Spiral Loops in a context
similiar to Ableton Live... but i'm working on a laptop, so i've got
limited screen space - even with multiple desktops, i could only really
use multiple desktops to zoom between different sets...

similiar to Ableton Live... but i'm working on a laptop, so i've got
limited screen space - even with multiple desktops, i could only really
use multiple desktops to zoom between different sets...

been raised online this week... i started to think, as i'm venturing
into the arena of live laptop performance - what apps are people using
for live sessions / sets / gigs?

I use alsaplayer, sweep, ssm, ams and tX for playback.
I generally use arecord for capture.
Afterwards I use ardour to create smaller files and then attack them
with audacity, sweep, and ssm depending on my mood.

I have found it's not neccessary.
More important is to know the limitations of the software and ways to
get round unexpected bugs, of which there are still many.
I have used my 1 ghz cerelon PIII for the past 2 1/2 months without any
power failures. I have definitely had odd occurances with sound devices
though. But hey, at least I didn't have to reboot to get around the
problems ;p

due to insufficient voltage.
In other words, it really depends on the "venue". :)
Forgot to mention - I have also *performed* in a venue
where the power (ALL of it) cut out twice during our show.
I guess they were pushing the circuit breakers a bit hard.
Would have really sucked if I'd had to reboot.
Fortunately I was playing bass. :)
Audience was maybe 200, pretty big gig by my standards.
