Hi all!
Although still in the early - very early - stages, I finally decided to
announce it: my webpage, http://ltsb.sf.net .
I try to demonstrate how you can use a text-based linux environment
(console) as a nicely equipped recording-studio. At the moment only the basic
chapters of this guide and a few early audio-examples are online. But as time
allows, I'll continue.

Hi Julien,
excellent site!
I've not read it thoroughly yet, but I've seen great advices for ecasound,
which I consider a wonderful software. Have you tried tektracker for MIDI?
It is rather bare but very interesting... It seems that does not saves midi
files and that you cannot change program within it, but it works well:

I did try tektrac ker, but it wouldn't work. Installation made no problems,
but it simply wouldn't work. It looked interesting, but at the moment I'm much
to deep into other music. But sometimes I'd still like a tool like that.

maybe the problem is that it uses the old OSS midi interface? I have
snd-virmidi already loaded, and set the symbolic links:
/dev/midi20 -> /dev/snd/midiC2D0
and
/dev/midi -> /dev/midi20
So everything that is sent to /dev/midi is routed to the first virtual MIDI
port provided by snd-virmidi. I can then connect that one to an external
expander or soft synth.

I forgot... obviously this is true on my system, where snd-virmidi is the
third "card" (C2) if you have only one "real" soundcard and the
virmidi
module, the former should be /dev/snd/midiC1D0
