Hi,
I'm trying to get two soundcards to work. One MOTU UltraLite with
FFADO and a USB Edirol PCR-1. No Luck with either.
What should I do to configure the Edirol? (Maybe the easier one?) The
core installation of planet-ccrma is enough? I tried to start up JACK
but the system does not recognize the soundcard. (Fedora 13 64-bit
with planet-ccrma).

What do you see if you do:
cat /proc/asound/devices
I'd try to start jackd from a terminal with:
jackd -R -d alsa -d PCR1
What happens?
And with:
jackd -R -d alsa -d PCR1 -r 48000 -n 3

The audio part of the PCR-1 is missing. IIRC this should show up as
a second USB device.
How did you configure your sound cards?
What is the output of "lsusb -v" for the PCR-1?

yeah, the problem should be me :-)
With my epson a3 printer I had the opposite experience. F13 just asked
if I wanted to install the driver. Like magic. With my mac I had
troubles to find a driver.
I hope one day this will be the case with sound card. "Do you want to
install the sound card driver?". "Yes, please!".

Otherwise any other class compliant USB1 soundcard. But is the PCR-1 not

+1 for Edirol UA-25EX. Just perfect an easy, both normal and advance mode
.
Just one thing. Jack shuts down when recording at 98k. But I know that
it isn't a driver issue because I can record via arecord (record
direct with Alsa). Maybe something with jack.
ASAIC, I'll post this to Ardour/jack and try to find a solution for everybody.

Yes and comments like that improve the situation so much!
If you want to complain that your sound-card isn't working on your os of
choice, do not complain at people who program the drivers for free. Complain
at the manufacturer you paid already...

Yes, that would state what I wanted to say. And I wonder why. They
just don't care or they really don't want to linux to become something
more than "just for servers"? MOTU has this Digital Performer
software, is this the only reason not to even help? If they just don't
believe in free software they could make closed drivers, we could live
with that for the moment.

If you want to complain that your sound-card isn't working on your os of
choice, do not complain at people who program the drivers for free. Complain
at the manufacturer you paid already...
