Please make sure that you have the hotplug and fxload packages and some
recent release of ALSA installed (see the README for the URLs).
(Check that /sbin/hotplug and /sbin/fxload exist, and that
"modprobe snd-usb-audio" works.)
When you plug in the 4x4, there should be some messages in
/var/log/messages: new device connected, firmware loading, another new
device, loading of snd-usb-audio.
If it doesn't work, please post the last few messages.

These messages are fine so far, but there should be more.
Please try to run the download utility manually:
/sbin/fxload -s /usr/share/usb/MidiSportLoader.ihx -I /usr/share/usb/MidiSport2x2.ihx
too see if there are any error messages.
If the download was successful, the product ID should change from 0x1001
to 0x1002, i.e. /proc/bus/usb/devices should contain the line:
P: Vendor=0763 ProdID=1002 Rev= 1.21

snd-usb-audio should be loaded automatically. Please check that
/lib/modules/(version)/modules.usbmap contains a line with these numbers:
snd-usb-audio ... 0x0763 0x1002 ...
If not, the ALSA drivers aren't installed correctly.

Try ams-1.5.4. It runs faster (around 25%, I guess) because I'm now using
tables for the exp(). There is possibly still room for performance
improvement. This is however limited until I start to add CPU specific
optimization (like in commercially available softsynths).

Clemens, thanks for the firmware. I just got an Uno today and its now
pulsing. Now I have to see if I can make this controller do something
interesting. i actually had a little trouble. The above helped tho,
because I did not see the /proc/bus/usb... in my logs. In fact, there
was nothing there because, of course, I didnt have usbdevfs in my
kernel. So either adding that or the reboot did it. If it needs
usbdevfs, perhaps that could be included in the readme. Thanks again.

I have install the MidiSport firmware loader for MidimanSport 4x4.
All 4 outputs are working. But all midi inputs seems not to work.
Any Ideas?
