Hi everyone,
i want to textedit a qtractors miditrack clip.
is there any way?
which textformat, if any?
no luck with nano (cryptic), gedit (unknown format)...
perhaps anyone knows another good tool for making MIDI CC tracks?
Seems strange he neglected to mention it but maybe Paul is just too
modest to plug his own app as (the still pre-alpha) Ardour 3 is the
best way to edit MIDI CC data under Leenooks. You would need to
compile A3 from svn then export your qtractor project as a SMF to
import it into A3 of course.
However, this is supposedly TYOQTA (The Year Of Qtractor Automation)
so maybe you won't need to do that if you're prepared to wait a bit..
qtractor uses smf files for all midi stuff. period.
smf-to-ascii translators are here on call i suppose. there are a few out
of a dozen but i confess i don't use any, anymore. i use qtractor all
the time--ain't that sweet? ;)
now that someone asked about tyoqta ;) qtractor automation data will get
stored on regular smf files too, be it in midi cc or whatever but surely
regular midi event bytes.
nb. there will be a logical distinction though, between midi track
"performance" data, as is found usual on current midi clips, and the new
"control/automation" data, which shall get mapped to some controllable
subject (eg. a plugin parameter).
