Video streaming is a complicated by patents, though. Mozilla's top lawyer
argues that Ogg Theora is safe to use in regards to
patents. But Microsoft
has cast doubts on Ogg Theora, and Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs
apparently is considering a patent attack on open-source video codecs.

Yup. And I have mplayer playing through JACK, so the audio goes through
by USB sound card instead of the laptop's old HDA audio. Much nicer
experience!

on debian you can also get it with `apt-get install youtube-dl`.
FWIW, there's also nicovideo-dl and metacafe-dl available on debian.
There's also a Firefox plugin called Download
Helper that works very

For those being more pragmatic than idealistic: flash works just fine
with a jackplug in asoundrc: http://rg42.org/wiki/qjackctl_dbus#asoundrc

Well, speaking of helpers for Youtube, 1 of our LUG members here in Southern
Cal created "usnatch" an external script with Lynx, to download youtube videos.
Just search for dallas leagan and usnatch to find his work.
Many times however if sites link to flash, I cannot grab
