Hi everyone,
in the last couple of weeks I started playing with jconvolver. (Thank you
Fons!)
First I tried it on OSX and it works quite nice there with some FIR I
generated.
When I tried the same on Manjaro I ran into a problem.
I start the Jack server using Cadence (as I usually do), but when I try to
start jconvolver in the terminal it returns a message that no Jack server
is running.
All other applications (ardour carla etc.) work fine.
I tried to delete the Jack configuration files but that did not help
I also tried to run jconvolver -s jackd / jconvolver -s jackdbus but also
without success.
I have run into a wall trying to find the cause of the problem.
I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

I would suggest starting jackd from the command line, and posting the
entire set of messages starting with the command line you typed to the end
of the startup messages.
Perhaps there is a permission problem with your user account which is not
allowing shared memory setup.

That looks as expected, no warnings shown.
What happens when that jackd instance is running and you start jconvolver?
Can you post the same for the jconvolver command? I tried just to check
and did not see many startup messages, just one about modifying the
requested partition size from the conf file.
Normally I would use Cadence to start Jack
Checking jconvolver after starting jackd on the command line would give
indication whether Cadence is starting jackd in an unexpected way.

I normally start Ardour not through Cadenca and that works as expected.

Hi Oliver,
--period 128 -> this is very low. Not all system/hardware are able to
handle it.
All other programs (Ardour & Pianoteq etc.) work with this settings.
Do you see any reason why jconvolver would not?

jconvolver -sjackdmp
jconvolver -sdefault
I think if you don't use the option -s jconvolver should use to the default
server name.

Hi all,
so I got jconvolver to work.
I thought that I tried all the server name options but I was wrong. After
David and Ralf pointed out that I should try the option "-sdefault" I
recognized that I tried it like this "-s default".
So my apologies and thanks to everyone!
I thought that if the server name is default it should work without the
server option, obviously I was wrong.

Suggestion is to try with a higher value such as 1024 for a starting.
Then, if it works, go down to 512, then 256.
