Hi,
I want to archive very much LPs. Therefore I search a programm that is able to
start / stop the recording dependent from the input level. The time period of
the input level that triggers the recording to start/stop should be
adjustable (or very long - to avoid stop recording in silent passages of a
sond).
It would be very good if the programm can send a event, or execute a programm
if it stops recording because I want to automate the splitting and encoding
process after the recording has stopped.
Does anyone knows a (set of) programm(s) that can do this job?

gramofile does this. It starts with a single big .wav file of a whole
side of the LP, and splits it into track by detecting the silences. It
also removes clicks and pops from the sound.

And that's what I'm searching for. Not a programm that can detect silence for
splitting but to control recording.

Yes, that's an alternative to the batch processing.
But I still search a programm that automatically stops recording when
there is a long period of silence.

"-ge:open-threshold-%, ..." option with the interesting property of
truncating audio buffer's length to zero when the gate is closed again.

any experiancies with emagic a2/6 and kernel 2.6.10?
how can i get it working?
what do i need:
which low-latency-kernel-patches ?
where to get the firmware ?
alsaconf does not recognize the card !
modprobe emi26 sais: localhost kernel: usbcore: registered new driver emi26 -
firmware loader - and nothing else ... ? ...
lsusb sais: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 086a:0102 Emagic Soft-und Hardware GmbH
usbmodules -- device /proc/bus/usb/002/003 gives no results !
please give me some help!
i want to use this hardware together with hydrogen, alsa and jackd

lsusb sais: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 086a:0102 Emagic
Soft-und Hardware GmbH
This hardware revision will be supported in kernel 2.6.12. To get it
to work now, edit drivers/usb/misc/emi26.c and replace 0x0100 with
0x0102.

many thanx for answering me! now my card can play files whith "mpg123 xx.mp3".
but i cannot connect the card to alsa ... :-(
-> i need it for jackd ... (do i probably need other options for jackd ?)
alsaconf does not recognize the card.
how can i get information, how the card is connected to my system? i only hear
that it woks, but nothing else ...
do i need something else?

Don't load audio, it conflicts with snd-usb-audio. You should only have
snd-usb-audio loaded.

yeah, and never use OSS usb-midi in conjunction with ALSA
snd-usb-midi. Caused a lot of troubles in my setup. Since I
removed usb-midi from my kernel, everything just works fine.

This is OK if you've never saved the E26's mixer state before.

After the firmware has been downloaded, the device disconnects itself
and then reconnects as an USB audio device with ID 0101.
"error -5" indicates that the firmware loader (the emi26 module)
doesn't want to stay loaded because it isn't needed anymore after the
firmware has been loaded.

To prevent the audio module from loading, put the line
audio
into the /etc/hotplug/blacklist file.
