HI All
Just been looking at a few free mp3 sites.
Some of the contracts are really dangerous, from a creative commons
point of view.
Here is one part:

you must have the right to grant, to Road-Noise.Net an irrevocable,
perpetual, non-exclusive, fully paid, worldwide license to use, copy,
perform, display, and distribute such information and content and to
prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such
information and content, and to grant and authorize sublicenses of the
foregoing.

Seems here you give them total world rights to your music.
Not really free then.

Seems here you give them total world rights to your music.
Yes, but it's non-exclusive, so you don't lose any of your rights.
This is more like a BSD license than CC. :-)

I guess in the context of (or comparison to) a CC license (which I don't have
an intuitive understanding of), you are probably right.
But, in comparison to:
* a GPL license, you are allowing a non-GPL'd fork
* a "commercial license", you are allowing them to compete with you at no
cost and with no return to you (by "commercial license" I mean a case where
you are not licensing under some free/open license but instead want to sell
and profit from your work--of course, you probably wouldn't be posting your
music on a site like this in that case)
So, whether it is rights or not, you are losing/giving up something, and
should decide carefully whether you want to do so or not.

These other sites are (semi) commercial and they have to pay for their
bandwidth somehow.
