No fancy stuff, just a short trifle, a piano piece recorded into Ardour,
run through Jamin, exported by Ardour, opened in Rezound, LADSPA TAP
auto-panner plugin applied, saved, encoded into OGG-Vorbis format by
oggenc, OGG file tagged with easytag, uploaded with gftp. Simple,
educational and fun! ;-)

Regarding the recent discussion about NoteEdit and music notation in
general, Linux/*BSD and Windows have the best notation editor in the
world, in my opinion, in Lilypond. And it's free (although financially
sponsored in part by various of its grateful users).
Ardour and Lilypond are both great programs. And so are Rezound,
Audacity, qjactctl, Jamin, Rosegarden4--the list of great audio and MIDI
programs for Linux users is long and staggering in its richness.

Thank you for the compliment Cesare. It's just a compositional fragment,
but I like it and may do more with it someday. ;-)
Regarding the piano sound, it comes from some very fine samples I bought
on CD from sound engineer and musician William Coakley, the "Perfect
Piano Series, Volume V"--

They are the best piano samples I have ever heard, both in hardware form
(such as in the ROM of MIDI tone generators or their optional add-on
cards), or in software (such as the many piano "plugins" for use on the
computer with various MIDI/digital-audio programs (Gigasampler format,
"Ivory," etc.)
I have a Roland FantomXR single-space rack-mounted MIDI controlled tone
generator, and I loaded William Coakley's piano samples (as well as his
custom patches for the Fantom/FantomXR) onto the Compact Flash card I
have inserted into the FantomXR's front-panel memory-expansion slot.
I have tried various synthesized and sampled pianos in the past, and
listened critically to various digital-audio demo files of others, and
these particular samples of William Coakley sound the best to me. I'm
very happy with them.

though. Not that I miss it ... Oh and I liked "Lonesome Butte" so much,

conservative (I guess *too* conservative, since it is not audible ;-)

Regarding "Lonesome Butte," I'm fond of the piece but my crude
drum/percussion track for it was a little embarrassing. I want to learn
to make better drum tracks, and how to use Hydrogen well. I love all the
tools music-makers now have in Linux. What a wonderful OS and wonderful
assortment of great software. ;-)
