It's quite easy to avoid the major brands in the
US, with new
micro-breweries popping up all the time. Colorado beer is amazing--there
are so many good breweries in the eastern part of the state.
Pilsner is my favorite kind of beer, but it's hard to find an authentic
one in the US (KC's Boulevard Pilsner is not even close). Even if it is
SABMiller, I'd go for a Peroni any time, but the only one I can get is
Nastro Azurro (which is equivalently disgusting as a Rolling Rock as far as
I can tell).
I am currently serving a Belgian golden ale I brewed a month ago.
Everything seemed to go wrong--for example, the mash got too hot, the gruit
was badly prepared, and I came up 2L short on volume during bottling.
Still, it turned out to be very tasty, but not perfect. I will have to
brew again next month to get it just right. Duvel costs about $6 a bottle
here. I had one last week, it was almost worth it.
As for coding--well, I don't know. Seems I should spend less time
brewing. My preference would be to spend less time working, but we all
know how that goes :)
