Hi all,
I have 2 MTC synchronized 4tracks that have 8 tracks together (mono). I
would like to transfer all of the tracks to my computer so I can play
around with some effects. I only have 1 input on my soundcard, so I was
wondering if I could record one track at a time using MTC. This way all
tracks would still be synchronous after transferring, because they are all
recorded with the same MTC master.
Is there a program available that can do this with Linux? Is this anyway a
viable idea?

Ardour has some MTC capabilities, but I can't remember wether it can sync
to incoming MTC, you could check on the ardour-user list, or someone here
may know.

Hi,
I thought MTC is an instruction that says follow me or
I'll follow you and that wordclock performs the
syncronization. Thus both MTC and wordclock are
required.
Ardour is capable of running as MTC master or slave. I
haven't used its MTC for either role during the last
six months so I can't attest to whether the feature is
working.

hmm.. I couldn't get ardour compiling. I do some developing myself, and
the development packages required for ardour conflict with the ones I need
for my own projects :((

Unfortunately no. Ecasound only supports sending MMC-start
and MMC-stop, and sending MIDI-sync (but without MIDI-clock...
ecasound doesn't know anything about tempo, so it's not
possible to send the clock).
