This one will not take you far - have a look at Jacklab and install
their Realtime-Kernel with YAST:
http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_YaST_Package_Repositories#JackLab
Find out more if needed:
http://jacklab.net/jacklaborg/english/
I tried using the same settings,
http://lapoc.de/img/qjackctl.png
which failed, at first but ...
I got it working by changing periods buffer from 3 to 2 (soundblaster live value)
That`s right - you do not need 3 buffers for a sb-card, 2 buffer will do...
And switching realtime off.
To make it wort RT do this:
1.) install the RT-Kernel from Jacklab (see above)
2.) check, if you have the following lines in /etc/security/limits.conf:
su
vim /etc/security/limits.conf
@audio - rtprio 99
@audio - memlock 1712000
Memlock is set for a system with 2Gig RAM - adjust this according to you
amount...
3.) check, if you are in group ardour....
(when I try to change them, Jack wont start anymore.
This is what the message windows tells us:
18:54:20.065 XRUN callback (1).
**** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 2.707 msecs
**** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 3.378 msecs
18:54:26.017 XRUN callback (2)
These evil messages should be gone, if you have taken the
afforementioned measures ;-)
good luck
