Larry,
I ask most of mine on Alsa-Dev, and generally get pretty fast
answers. I'm about to start a MIDI problems thread (big problems
unfortunately...) and have to decide where to do it, so your email is
timely.
Thanks,

Unfortunately, I don't still have the email, but I think I read something from
Frank Barknecht to the effect that this list really should have been called
linux-audio/midi-user.
So I suspect that MIDI questions are welcomed here, and the confusion in my
case is one of nomenclature. Of course, we could get pendantic and wonder if
even some MIDI questions are truly about MIDI, if they only involve virtual
"MIDI" through soft-synths. The last I read, MIDI isn't just a messaging
protocol, but defines the _hardware_ interface as well. I of course could be
wrong about this, and at this point, I admit to starting to ramble and be
thinking out loud. For that matter, (and this probably reveals how long I've
been using MIDI), do you still have to pay money to the MMA to get a copy of
the MIDI specs? Is the MIDI spec still at rev 1.0? Or is that whole
organization dead?
