At least there's an 'other' box!
I have offered to do a monthly Linux column for SoS, but they don't
think there are enough readers using it yet. A chicken and egg
problem, if ever there was one!
I think accessibility will be a killer feature for professional
quality Linux audio. In this month's issue of SoS there's a guy with
a ProTools set-up that cost 100 grand - I mean, seriously...

oh i love this. 'what sex are you' - i'm
surprised they didnt have
'Male' and 'Other' for that one too.....
It's a blokish magazine, it's true. At least it doesn't have the
soft-core porn of every other magazine aimed at men these days...
Women do sometimes feature in the magazine as performers, but rarely
(if ever) as producers or engineers. I did suggest interviewing Wendy
Carlos once (Switched on Bach, Clockwork Orange soundtrack), but it
wasn't taken up. I don't know if she counts though, as she was born
Walter Carlos and did her famous work while still living as a man.
I would have liked to interview Delia Derbyshire (she did the original
Doctor Who theme for the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, using tape loops)
but unfortunately she died a few years ago, largely forgotten. At
least there has now been a BBC Radio 4 play about her life, written
by Sonic Boom from Spacemen 3 I think.

I've just read the small print. It seems internet entries will be
eligible for the prize draw, but you're only allowed to complete one
survey and it has to be complete.
The prizes are a Focusrite Voicemaster channel and a Blue Ball
microphone.
